PEDRO HERRAIZ

I graduated in Fine Arts more than 30 years ago and have spent almost my entire life staring at a computer, working as a designer and developing, mostly, branding and packaging projects for multinational companies.

My creative endeavor has always been constant.
And always directed by a marketing department.

Over the years, and increasingly, I felt the need to bring the world in my head to life and to put down the mouse and use (and get) my hands again.

So, recently, I returned to painting.

The work I’ve done over the years with brands has been the starting point for this first collection.

(Miguel Zapata Tellechea, a friend and mentor, once told me: «It doesn’t matter what you paint, what matters is how you paint it.»)

I use professional resources to develop a visual work, which begins with the invention of imaginary brands for absurd products, with evocative names, a captivating storytelling, and a graphic personality on which I build each piece.

I love typography, (forgotten) hand-lettering, and the power of words. I like to give them prominence in my works.

I’m fascinated by paper and cardboard: light, strong, malleable, cheap… they’re mistakenly considered poor materials for art. I believe they’re a gift of our time, which we consume and pile up in containers. I’m happy giving them another life.

I began exhibiting in 2025. Imagine Brands is my first collection. Now, and thanks to it, I have other things in mind that I’m beginning to research.

I hope you like it.
