Meridiana

Meridiana is a spin-off of the Succubus theme. I was fascinated by the life of Sylvester II and his legend and dedicated a second painting to him.
After the pope’s death, Meridiana, broken with grief, renounced her immortal status as a demon so she could accompany him in eternity.
She was secretly buried next to Sylvester II in St. John Lateran. Legend also says that her tomb «weeps» water, and that the creaking of bones can be heard, announcing the death of a pope.
